This has been a rather traumatic 36 hours for me in regards to nature. Usually I am a big fan. I don't camp or anything, but I garden, love animals and appreciate the lovely area I live in. This all changed yesterday afternoon. I was sitting in my living room waiting for Max to fall asleep and I hear the dog barking. Now in the past 4 years I have probably only heard the dog bark like 3-4 times. So I got up to investigate and witness her brutally killing a groundhog in our yard. Our Daisy is such a laid back gentle dog that it really frightened me to see her this way. I tried to get her to stop, but she just kept going then anytime I tried to walk away and go inside she would start napping at the body again! I was calling around frantically to find someone to help and finally got Jeff to come home and I am proud to say he even went to the effort to bury the animal. Now we don't think Daisy has rabies, but was just displaying her part coyote nature. (Just to be sure we have kept away from her since then.) It was very disturbing to me, but not as disturbing as this morning as I was laying in bed and felt a weird bump on my tummy. Hmm. Mole? Skin Tag? Zit? Nope TICK!!! Grr... My worst fear come true. i won't go into detail about how whiny and babyish I acted cause it was bad, but Jeff took care of it (He sure has been coming to my rescue a lot.) He put a Nemo Band aid on it and even replaced the band aid after I took Max swimming today cause I just can't bring myself to look at it. Every hour or so I find myself reliving one of these incidents. Am I a total wuse, yup. Am I gonna suck it up, Nope. For the time being I am done with the Animal Kingdom. The only animals I want to deal with are the ones that sing and dance in cartoons. Oh yes, and I also have over twenty mesquito bites on my feet and lower legs.

EWWWW! I hate ticks!
oh no! that is a horrible story. i'm sorry. do you still like sheep today?
Actually funny you should mention sheep, cause after the tick thing jeff drove me by our local flock and they were actaully closer to the fence then usual. So we slowed down and pulled over. We didn't startle them, but they looked at me thought about it and got up and left. I was pretty devestated, maybe they heard about the groundhog thing and hold me responsible. I don't know, but it wasn't very nice.
Oh my gosh, I totally would have flipped if there was a tick on me. I don't see how any response to a tick could be an overreaction.
I didn't know that Jeff knew how to remove ticks. Maybe that boy scout training has some real value.
