One Minute

So Jeff and I took one look at the third hour power point presentation on LDS family services and decided to go home early. (Yes, we are horrible people.) We went to go get Max from nursery and realized that we had come just as the snacks had been passed out. He was sitting very patiently with his water cup and untouched peanut butter and jelly sandwich triangle. He looked up at us a bit annoyed and then held up his index finger in the "Hold on one minute guys," motion. Then he proceeded to shove the entire triangle (I am guessing a third a sandwich) into his mouth in one continuous motion. He has definitely inherited his mother's big mouth.

Stupid Animals

This has been a rather traumatic 36 hours for me in regards to nature. Usually I am a big fan. I don't camp or anything, but I garden, love animals and appreciate the lovely area I live in. This all changed yesterday afternoon. I was sitting in my living room waiting for Max to fall asleep and I hear the dog barking. Now in the past 4 years I have probably only heard the dog bark like 3-4 times. So I got up to investigate and witness her brutally killing a groundhog in our yard. Our Daisy is such a laid back gentle dog that it really frightened me to see her this way. I tried to get her to stop, but she just kept going then anytime I tried to walk away and go inside she would start napping at the body again! I was calling around frantically to find someone to help and finally got Jeff to come home and I am proud to say he even went to the effort to bury the animal. Now we don't think Daisy has rabies, but was just displaying her part coyote nature. (Just to be sure we have kept away from her since then.) It was very disturbing to me, but not as disturbing as this morning as I was laying in bed and felt a weird bump on my tummy. Hmm. Mole? Skin Tag? Zit? Nope TICK!!! Grr... My worst fear come true. i won't go into detail about how whiny and babyish I acted cause it was bad, but Jeff took care of it (He sure has been coming to my rescue a lot.) He put a Nemo Band aid on it and even replaced the band aid after I took Max swimming today cause I just can't bring myself to look at it. Every hour or so I find myself reliving one of these incidents. Am I a total wuse, yup. Am I gonna suck it up, Nope. For the time being I am done with the Animal Kingdom. The only animals I want to deal with are the ones that sing and dance in cartoons. Oh yes, and I also have over twenty mesquito bites on my feet and lower legs.

Never too late for cute

I just (okay Jeff just) downloaded this picture from our cell phone. I love it because it looks like Max has been caught red-handed, mid bounce on his way to deliver easter eggs.

Because 3 years was just way too long.

So I will keep this short cause I am tired from packing, cleaning and being really sick from taking Ambien. Anyhoo, we are buying a new house and that has kept us really busy recently. Nope we haven't sold the one we are living in yet. Are we crazy? Maybe. But come on from 1235 square feet to 2700 for very little more money, it was almost impossible to pass up. We are hoping to rent and eventually sell this house. I will give more details and updates after the closing and move May 28-29th. (Friends in my area please mentally save the date for your husbands and capable sons.) (and I guess I should add daughters since my parents never needed help moving once my sisters and I hit 8 or so.) I am very excited. Jeff is so excited that I had to remind him several times on my birthday/ultrasound to focus on me and the baby. I love my current house but it is just to small and hey it would have been 4 years in September the longest I have ever lived anywhere!

Mae Maureen Larkin

We are all pleased to announce that Mae Maureen Larkin will be making her debut this September At Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. Her offical arrival date is set for the 28th, but the doctor and I feel that maybe she should come a bit earlier then that. She was quite cooperative at the ultrasound giving us a good view of everything and making it quite clear that she is a girl! I will admit that deep down I was really thinking it would be, especially when Jeff and I decided upon a name. She gave us some good pictures which I will post if I ever get access to a scanner. There is an adorable picture of her foot which looks just like a foot print. She is measureing exactly as she should for her age and that was quite a relief to hear. No doubt things can change, but since Max was twice what he should be at his ultrasound, I feel a bit more confident that she will not be another 10 lbs 9 oz baby. She also waved at us durning the ultrasound. All and all it was a wonderful birthday present.

"Someone Left the Cake Out in the Rain"

As I approach my 27th birhtday on Wednesday recent events have been reminding me that I am old. Perhaps not in years, so much as in attitude and position of life. The most recent event was last night. Jeff and I were very excited to hear that Cake was coming to town and being moderate big fans we got tickets and a babtsitter, (thank you Morgan for taking excellent care of Max.) Oh and yes, we did go to a rock concert instead of the Stake Temple Day, I am not sure what that says about me. Anyway, all day long the rain had been coming down and I was kinda hoping that being an outdoor pavillion(!!!)that maybe it would be rescheduled or refunded. NOPE, despite the tornado warnings it was still on. Well having spent the money already and having a babysitter all lined up we headed down anyway. Everyone else seemed to be in a good mood. It seemed to be filled mostly with late twenty-something and early thirty-somethings all drinking massive amounts of beer and smoking heavily, (In today's age of no smoking in buildings it was rather suprising to be reminded that so many people my age still smoke!) We were of course all huddled under the available awnings instead of in our seats which were totally drenched. So that made the smoke a bit worse, then the hail came down, yup and the water started running high on the ground and flooding areas, and the winds came, and the bastards started over 40 min late. But despite all this no one else seemed to care. Is it me? Am I getting too old? Was it just the protective instinct of a pregnant mother worried that she was standing in a puddle of water surrounded by electrical cords? Or was I just never cool enough to roll with it in the first place? Once the music started I was happy to hear some of my favorites. Any song with sheep in it is okay by me. We left after about 40 min and were drenched by the time we got to our car. Not a single part of us was dry it was as if we had gone swimming. I am not saying I will never go to another concert again, but I think I will be a bit more picky in the future. I will keep in mind what would be age appropiate, cause I'm getting old.

bonus points for the one who can name the song the title comes from, and no it's not a Cake song.
