Away for the Day

Use it or lose it. That is the WAL-MART vacation days policy. So, Jeff needed to use a week of vacation before May or lose it all together. (We tend to hoard these until the end of the period.) Jeff took last week off and we had a few adventures. We left Max with many friends (Thank you Gulbransans, Scheeles, and Vernettis,) and went to Kansas City the Saturday and Sunday before his week off. It was fun to be away from Max, (This was our first trip away together,) I ate and ate and just kept on eating. We stayed at the Sheraton Suites in the middle of a really hoity toity shopping/restaurant district. (The area was covered with Bunny statues for Easter.) It was nice that we could just walk to everything. It was a bit depressing going into my favorite stores (Anthropologie,...) and not be able to buy clothes. There was a Gap Maternity but the sale clothes were all winter sweaters and I hate paying full price at the Gap. I did find the most adorable baby bunny booties at Scandia Down, but since I don't know if a boy or girl yet (three more weeks) I had to buy the blue and pink. We ate at my new favorite restaurant Brio. It's an Italian Grill and they have this chopped salad to die for and my pasta dish consisted of these little pasta dumplings filled with ricotta cheese. (oh man it is killing me to even type this.) I have never had such soft delicate pasta before. My breath was so bad for the rest of the day but I didn't want to have a mint cause the taste was still so good. Poor Jeff. We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. The wait was going to be an hour cause it was raining and Prom night in Kansas City (there are some really slutty high school girls out there) but despite the rain it was really warm and nice so Jeff asked if we could eat outside under the large awnings. It was great we didn't have to wait and never even got wet. We also avoided sitting next to stupid teenagers. Our hotel was nice enough. It was fun cause the suite had a separate sitting room. The only flaw was that the mattress was as hard as concrete. We had room service the next morning which was a kick. We were going to go to the zoo the next day, but it started snowing! So we just headed home, but it didn't matter. It was such a lovely and relaxing get away. More on the vacation later...
